Once you’ve sorted out your fabulous outfit, your shoes, your hair and makeup, you’ll need to finish off your outift with some fabulous jewelry. It doesn’t need to be over the top jewelry, you might want something that is understated yet elegant.
When shopping for jewelry, as well as looking at the stones and metals making up the jewelry item, you also want to check that whatever piece you are buying is flattering to your overall style but also looks good on YOU and that you feel comfortable wearing that piece.
Here are a few tips to bear in mind when shopping for jewelry:
Necklaces
Take a good look at your neck. If you have a thicker neck then do not bring attention to this area by wearing chokers. Either don’t wear anything around your neck, or, if you really are fond of jewelry, wear a longer chain. You can only get away with chokers if you have a long neck.
Bracelets and Rings
These jewelry items will draw the attention towards your hands so only wear rings and bracelets if your hands are in good shape. Again, make sure rings and bracelets fit fine, not too tight that they cannot slide around easily. If you have thick fingers and wrists, then perhaps wear only 1 ring and 1 bracelet. Otherwise, you can wear a few of each, provided you do not go too overboard.
Earrings
Not all women can get away with wearing different sizes and styles of earrings. The larger you are, or if you are tall, or heavy boned, then a larger size of earrings will look better on you. Study the shape of your face. If you have a full face, then avoid wide earrings as these will make your face look even wider; in this case it would be better to go for a longish style of earrings. Hold the earrings up to your ears (if the store has a policy of not letting you try on earrings if your ears are pierced) and look at them in relation to the rest of your face. Do they look right? Do they look off? You should be able to tell by looking at yourself, if they are the right ones for you or not.
