Are You Wearing the Right Sized Full Figure Bra?
What Large Size Bra Do You Wear? 40B, 46C, 46DDD?
Are you wearing the proper sized full figure bra for your bust size?
If you are not sure (and some women have to think momentarily ) then it must have been a while since you were last measured for a bra fitting.
Just as the foundation we wear on our faces sets the scene for the rest of our face makeup, so it is with our undergarments. If you are wearing flimsy, too big or too small lingerie for your size then it doesn’t matter how tailored or how expensive your clothes are, they will still look lousy.
Your full figure bras and pants should be the right size for your body, they should fit comfortably and give your body the support it needs.
If you have your foundation right (underwear) then your clothes will hang well and do you justice. Unfortunately, many women pay the least amount of attention to what they wear under their clothes and this lets them down severely.
Common and Easy to Spot Problems with Badly Fitting Full Figure Lingerie
- Tight fitting bras can cause bugles of flesh to dangle from your sides and around your back (commonly known as muffin tops)
- Tight fitting panty girdles can cause lots of loose flesh to double up above your bottom (so that it looks like you have a double bottom!)
- Visible pantyline is a definite no-no. Not necessarily caused by ill-fitting pants but easily seen under lighter fabrics
- Bras where the back rides up and/or the cups are sagging are too small
- If your breasts do not fill the cups out completely and there are wrinkles in the cup, then the bra is too big
- If your breasts are heaving out of your cups and spilling over the tops so that it looks as though you have 4 breasts, then you need to have a larger cup size.
Large Size Bras: How to Get the Perfect Fit
If only selecting the right size full figure bra were that easy. Unfortunately, you do need to try on a few to make sure that the fit is exactly right for your body. Some come up smaller than they are when you try them on and some are bigger, it all depends on the actual style and fabric of the bra itself as well as the manufacturer. This is why trying on bras is a must.
Many women go for years without getting properly measured for their bra size. They make the mistake of thinking they can carry on wearing the same bra in their mid-thirties that they wore in their twenties. This is not so. Our bodies change so much over the years, especially women since they are most likely to go through pregnancy, diet and breast-feeding changes in their twenties and thirties.
Therefore, their breasts can change drastically and a bra that may have fitted perfectly a few years ago might be completely wrong now.
The problem for fuller figured women has been that many traditional stockists tend to have a very limited range of bras with most of them geared towards “average” sizes. Therefore, in order to find the right support bra, plus size women and larger breasted women have had to seek specialist retailers. Luckily, there are more of these now available and it is relatively easy these days to find a size 48B or 46DDD bra.
What is the Perfect Full Figure Bra?
Basically, a perfectly fit for a full figure bra is one where there is enough support for the breasts as well as wider and supportive shoulder straps that are easy on your shoulders (many larger breasted women tend to have shoulder and back problems due to supporting their larger chest).
A bra that can “lift” your breasts up and separate them will give you a nice outline. No sagging or drooping allowed. Having an underwired bra is the way to go.
Getting measured for your correct bra size should be your first step in finding the right plus size bra for you. Seek out the advice of an expert who can tell you which bras will give you the support you need. Once you find a bra that fits properly, you should buy a few in that size. Get different colors and styles.
